Safety committees serve a key role in the administration of a productive safety program and are a vital component of a healthy safety culture. Managed properly, committees can be a powerful tool that optimizes an organization’s return on safety investment. Safety committees offer an ongoing opportunity for employees to participate and have a stake in the program that they are being asked to use. They provide a direct, open line of communication between the field and office and, if comprised of the right people, are best able to identify the organization’s most pressing safety needs and exposures.
